Being a Mozilla Firefox user, did you get confused what Google Update plugin is doing in your fox browser? And what is this npgoogleupdate3.dll file?
Along with an answer to that, also know how you can remove google update plugin from Firefox. Just scroll down and read.
Why is it installed in Firefox?
Once, I too wondered why this google update plugin is sitting at my active plugins list in Firefox, so I dug deep with curiosity and found that it’s a plugin that comes when you install any Google Products like Chrome or Earth. It makes sure that those products are taking updates regularly. Now you may think why it is showing Firefox instead of Chrome! It gets added to Mozilla when Firefox searches for Plugins in Windows Registry.
How can you disable it?
You can always follow the default way of disabling FireFox Addons i.e Opening Firefox’s Plugin Page and hitting the disable button. But you can say that it won’t delete the plugin files completely. In case if you wish to shred it completely, then follow the below path and delete the files yourself.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Update\Current Version\npGoogleUpdate3.dll
C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\Google\Update\Current Version\npGoogleUpdate3.dll
Just navigate to above locations from your Windows Explorer and delete those files. It completes the process.
Do you know that Google Search is having so many hidden features that you haven’t explored?
It’s time to explore those and change the way you google.
